Privacy Policy

Free Audio Tours doesn't ask you to create an account, and it doesn't collect personal information to let you use a tour. Here's exactly what does happen:
Analytics
The site uses a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Umami) to see aggregate traffic — how many visits a page gets, roughly where from, and which pages are used. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you across sites, and does not sell or share data with advertisers. If the analytics service is unreachable, nothing about the site breaks — the tour still works.
What's stored on your device
A few things are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only — never sent to a server:
- Whether you've completed a tour, so the end-of-tour donation card can quietly reappear next time you open the page instead of interrupting the tour itself.
- Whether you've dismissed that donation card, so it doesn't keep showing up once you've seen it.
Each tour also caches its own audio, images, and map tiles on your device (via a service worker) so it keeps working without a signal. That cache lives only on your device and clears if you clear your browser's site data.
Affiliate and donation links
Some links on tour pages are affiliate links to third-party booking sites; if you book through one, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you (see the disclosure on the relevant tour page). The donation link goes to a third-party payment page. Neither type of link passes any personal data to Free Audio Tours — once you leave the site, you're subject to that third party's own privacy policy.
Location access
A tour asks your browser for your GPS location so it can trigger the right narration as you travel. That location is used only in your browser, live, to figure out which waypoint is nearest — it is never sent to or stored on any server.
